Have you ever stumbled upon a tiny box filled with books in your neighborhood? Chances are, you’ve found a Little Free Library!

These small book-sharing boxes are popping up worldwide and are a great way to promote literacy and community engagement.

If you’re in Barnesville, you might come across the Little Free Library in front of the Barnesville Library Annex on North Chestnut Street. The Kiwanis Club of Barnesville stewards this particular Little Free Library. We are responsible for keeping the box in good repair and stocked with a variety of books for all ages.

If you or your young ones are looking for a book to read, stop by and grab a book next time you are on the north side of town. You don’t have to bring a book to take one. Once you are finished enjoying the book, feel free to pass it on to someone else you think will like it or bring it back to the Little Free Library and leave it for someone else to enjoy.

If you have a gently used book you would like to share with the community, you can drop it off in the library. It’s a simple way to share the joy of reading with others and help build a stronger community. If the library is full, or you have several books you would like to donate, contact a Kiwanis of Barnesville member.

How Does It Work?

A Little Free Library is a free book-sharing box where anyone may take a book or share a book. They function on the honor system. You do not need to share a book to take one. If you take a book (or two) from a little library, try to bring some to the library to share when you can. (You can even bring the same book back when you are finished with it.)

Can I Return Books I’ve Checked Out From the Barnesville Library to the Little Free Library?
No. Even though the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library was awesome enough to let us install the Little Free Library in front of the Annex, it is entirely separate from the Barnesville Library. Please return books you have checked out with your library card directly to the library.

What Do I Do If I Notice Something Wrong With the Little Free Library?

While we are the stewards of the Little Free Library, it belongs to the community, so we rely on everyone in town to help us keep an eye out for any issues.
