The Kiwanis Club of Barnesville, Ohio, will host our annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, in the Barnesville Assumption Catholic Church Basement.
In addition, we will also have a 50/50 raffle as well as a country store with items donated by club members and local area businesses.
Tickets for the Pancake Breakfast are $10 for over 12 years, $5 for 3 to 12 years, and free for under 3 years. The cost includes pancakes, sausage, drinks, and condiments. Meals are also available for take-out.
Tickets may be purchased in advance from any Barnesville Kiwanis or Barnesville High School Key Club member or by calling 740-310-7093. Tickets will also be available at the door.
At the end of last year, I floated an idea to help Barnesville’s Key Club by reaching out to local people, organizations, and businesses to sponsor a Key Club Member’s International dues.
Barnesville High School’s Key Club, under the leadership of their advisor Corey Powell, has slowly and steadily grown over the years. The last number I heard for this year’s count is around 180 students. With Key Club International dues nearly $10 a year per student, the total cost adds up fast.
So, we set up an online donation portal and sent messages to members of our community to see if anyone would be interested in helping out. We didn’t know what the response would be, but knew that every dollar would help.
And the people of Barnesville knocked it out of the park.
With the help of this fantastic town and the people who live here, we have raised enough money to cover every penny of Key Club International dues for every member of this year’s Key Club.
Every penny.
Anyone who lives here knows how wonderful Barnesville is and how willing we are to help each other out. But, I have to admit, I never imagined the community would step up quite like this.
To everyone who donated, thank you.
Thank you for your kind donations. Thank you for being part of this community.
Thank you for helping make this community.
Brock Rogers President Kiwanis Club of Barnesville Ohio
The Kiwanis Club of Barnesville is delighted to be the stewards of the brand-new Little Free Library!
Our Little Free Library is a place where anybody in our community can take a book for free. Once you have finished reading, you can pass it on to someone else or return it to our Little Free Library for others to enjoy.
If you wish to donate a new or gently used book to the library, you can do that, too! Just drop it off the next time you are by. (If the library is full and you have books to donate, please get in touch with us.)
Our Little Free Library is located at the Barnesville Library Annex at 611 North Chestnut Street. We are grateful to the Barnesville Library for allowing us to install our library there.
Please note that while our Little Free Library is at the Barnesville Library Annex, you can not return books borrowed from the Barnesville Library to it; you must return them to the Barnesville Library.
Although we are the stewards of the Little Free Library, it belongs to the community. Please help us keep an eye on it, and if you notice anything that needs attention, please contact us and we will take care of it.
